The Montgomery Community College NRA School in Troy, NC will be hosting a Black Powder Rifle: Stock Relief Carving Class on May 1st through 5th with Master Gunsmith, George Suiter.
This class will be an amazing opportunity to learn from a legendary Master Gunsmith and fixture of the Colonial Williamsburg Gun Shop.
The student will learn to design, draw and execute relief carving on a blank maple butt stock, based on period correct 18th and 19th century designs. The instructor will draw from his 30 years of experience as a master gunmaker at Colonial Williamsburg. The class will involve some shaping, sanding and scraping the stock in preparation for relief carving. Sharpening of chisels and proper tool selection will also be covered.
